When the author of Thus Have I Seen traded her distinguished career in government and banking for a simpler life as a devoted Buddhist practitioner, she had no idea she would later be recognized as Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche and become the disciple of the greatest teacher of Buddhism, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III. She should not have been so surprised, though. Throughout her life she had been drawn to spirituality and had been blessed with spontaneous spiritual awakenings. She had sought truth in Christianity, Judaism, Shamanism and eventually found her path in Buddhism. She studied with several prominent Zen Buddhist teachers in America always looking for the true teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, the teachings that lead to enlightenment, to becoming a Bodhisattva and to Buddhahood. When she met her Buddha Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III, in 2001 she knew she had finally found what she was looking for. Here was a Buddha Master with perfect knowledge of exoteric and esoteric Buddhism and complete accomplishment in the Five Vidyas. As a close disciple of His Holiness, Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche lived and sometimes traveled with His Holiness, and was witness to many instances when the true power of the Buddha Dharma became manifest before her. The Buddha Dharma she is learning from H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III is rooted in great devotion, utmost sincerity, and the cultivation of high character and bodhichitta. In Thus Have I Seen, Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche writes, "much of what is presented as Buddhism today is mainly a form of mindfulness or zen practice that is a method to develop concentration, reduce stress, and achieve serenity. These are all worthy by-products and useful but fall far short of the wonders and marvelous existence taught by Shakyamuni Buddha. People do not believe in the power of the Buddha Dharma, because they have never experienced or seen it.” In Thus Have I Seen, Zhaxi Zhuoma Rinpoche shares the marvelous and miraculous events she has witnessed and even taken part in. And she introduces to readers many important teachings of Buddhism and provides references to many resources that readers can draw upon to advance on the true path to enlightenment and liberation.
